Vinyl Zone Projects: Cutting Mat Table

As of Fall 2024, the Vinyl Zone has a 40" x 72" cutting mat ready-to-use. Unfortunately, we don't have a table that's large enough, just a table frame

Goal

Finish the cutting mat table.

1. Tabletop

We've got an existing metal table frame, measuring 29" high by 57 1/8" long by 33 13/16" wide. See screenshots.

The mat is a bit larger all around. See screenshots.

  • I'd prefer a smooth (not necessarily finished) tabletop. That'll let the mat stay in place via friction or adhesive tape alone.
  • I plan to replace the mat with a similar model once it's worn out.
  • I'd prefer at least an extra 1/2 inch on all sides of the mat.

2. Castors

  • I'll be getting a set of retractable castors, similar to those used on the woodshop tables. Figure out how to attach these to the table legs, or to something mounted to the table legs. If it's secure, it works for me.
  • Note that the frame is made of 1" stock.
