I'm Scott, and at the time of writing, I am a new member at i3. I studied Computer Science at the University of Alabama where I graduated in 2018. Since then, I have been working at an automotive company, primarily working on embedded Android systems and vehicle architecture.

It looks like i3 has some incredible resources and a community I am looking forward to being a part of. If you come across this page, and are looking for someone enthusiastic to join you with your project, please don't hesitate to reach out! I would love to learn and participate with you.

I think a great first project for me at i3 would be building a drone. It's something I've wanted to do for a while, and I just need a little bit of knowledge from someone who has done it before. I love my DJI drones, but the idea of customizing my own and being able to fix it when it breaks is awesome.

Things I can help you with:

  • Coding, testing, debugging, and automation, specifically anything Python, stuff related to UI development (including JS frameworks), or the nitty-gritty stuff with lower-level languages or interfaces like C.
  • Vehicle Architecture (CAN, OBD diagnostics, EAVB, sound systems, etc.)
  • Creating software synthesizers, using Ableton or other digital audio workstations, and music theory (I play the piano and love to compose my own music, from electronic to jazz)
  • Advanced 3D modeling, rigging, texturing, etc. in Blender
  • Creating cool art with math - things like fractals, Lorenz systems, Lissajous curves, etc. and rendering them through OpenGL, DirectX, Python, etc.
  • (will add more)

Things I am looking forward to learning:

  • Anything you can teach me about hardware! I am lacking in that department and would like to be able to design PCBs, fix things, and do something cool with the box of sensors and microprocessors I have in my closet
  • Radios, including SDRs, Flipper Zeros, and other "hacky" stuff
  • Laser cutting, using the CNC machine, and woodworking, for both utilitarian projects and artsy stuff
  • Embroidery and vinyl, so I can make some cool stickers and shirts
  • (will add more)

Some other interests not listed:

  • The great outdoors, especially if disc golf is involved
  • Traveling
  • Virtual reality
  • The gym
  • Investing and trading
  • Trying new things
