Who am I?

My name is Arthur Mize. I am referred to by all my friends simply as Art. I tend to be gregarious around people when socializing but focused when working on a project. I have no ego when it comes to working on things so please feel free to offer advice or ideas. I have never been in a position where I "Knew it All" even when I've been the Expert in the room, teaching or troubleshooting. If you ask me about my German Sheppard I may never stop talking.

History

I started my professional career as a paramedic and worked through several jobs until I was hired as a consultant to argue with doctors. Yes, that was a lot of fun. Due to an illness, my company forcibly retired me for medical reasons. As such, I've been bouncing around picking up hobbies and the like. I've been a paramedic, firefighter, dispatcher, invasive specialist, educator, consultant, and researcher. For many years, I was with a team providing high tech cardiology services to the poor in Nicaragua. When you are used to having all the tech available and then barely anything, you tend to get creative. This experience taught me there isn't a No but a "Maybe, give me a second."

Skills

That's a good one. I've never considered myself to have "Skill." I look at something and then see if I can figure it out. Let's try a list of some of things I've done. You can infer what I might be able to do:

• Rebuilt 1972 Honda Goldwing
• Rewired electrical system from scratch 1970 BMW
• Minor and small wood furniture projects
• Built a PBX system with multiple numbers, lines, and fax machines with a Raspberry Pi.
• HAM Radio Operator: KC8-ECC
• Built some small electrical and circuit board projects
• Photographer
• Minor gunsmithing

Goals

I have a few:

• Woodworking to build some bookshelves and workbenches
• IoT projects to work within the bookshelves and workbenches as well as other Home Automation ideas
• Learn Welding (I'm not sure what to do with this but I've always wanted to learn)
• Leather working for a few projects and ideas
• Meet some awesome people and learn from them! (Really, this isn't a line.)
