Hybrid Meeting Etiquette
- Be excellent.
- Attendance and voting can be found in the #meetings slack channel.
- Please show up early if you are concerned about your audio.
- If there is no one waiting to speak feel free to do so at the next opportunity.
- If there is someone waiting to speak, please say that you are raising your hand in the google call chat. (This will be demonstrated)
- Please refrain from other side conversations, these can be distracting for the rest of the meeting and make it difficult for the chair to keep track of what's going on.
- If you're in the space remember that having a single person speaking at a time is helpful for those attending online.

18 19 Jul 2026 Craft Open House Details following/span>
National Craft Open Studios / Open House
Link to official event page with more info
- July 18-19th!
- All participating studios will be added to an online map and receive a printable sign for on-site visibility
- Marketing: 8,000 national press contacts, 10,000 members, 90,000 subscribers, and 100,000 social media followers
- Participants will be asked to collect information about visitor numbers and sales during the event to help measure program impact
Using this as an opportunity to host an Open House! We'll also do our own advertising -- could use help making flyers and getting them shared around locally (coffee shops, bars, libraries, etc.) and planning / formatting social media posts.
I put together a google form for people to fill out if they're interested in helping (link here). Filling this out does not lock you into helping, it just makes it easier for me to see where we'll have enough support, where we may need more help, and to reach out to people for planning in the future.
- Aiming for representation for every Zone!
- So far, we have Ceramics, Welding/Plasma, Wood Shop, and Laser Zones represented
- People will be able to sell things during the event!
- Commons will be turned into a tabling area
- People will be responsible for collecting payment, i3Detroit will not be collecting payment. You'll need your own way to accept card / make change.
- Right now, we don't have a jury process. This may change if a lot of people are interested in selling stuff, as we need to ensure everyone has suitable space. Please report interest asap so I can take this into account.
Right now, could use help with:
- Getting images we can use to advertise i3
- We really need more images of stuff people have made -- this event is focused on the artists, so we want to highlight our artists!
- Making posters / flyers
- Informing people at i3 about the event and getting people to fill out the help interest form (linked)
- Ensuring I've thought of everything so planning will go smoothly (stay after member meeting to discuss?)
Details to think about:
- Loud / potentially dangerous equipment will not be possible to use during the event outside of any planned demos. Would people be ok with having the space largely "closed" for working on projects for these 2 days?
- Could we have our next Potlock around June 27th to help prep for this? (Could also use this as a last 'big push' to complete build outs)
- Can we set a goal for Media Zone and E-Lab to be mostly set up by July 17th?
Gratitude Corner
- Commons TV: Andrew, Mara, Ivy, Rose, Thomas's hardware emporium, Jamie
- Infrastrcture Upgrade: Mara, Ivy, Rose, Thomas's hardware emporium, Jamie

- Sewing is hopefully back on the buildout schedule this weekend, stay tuned to the channel for updates and task list.
- Still some key things to finish up.
- Hoping to get zone introduction sessions going soon but needing loose buildout ends done prior, ideally.
- Did you know the 4x8' table is a machine surface for visiting/member sewing machines or temporary larger work space? Yep, plug in and set up is near the window end. Tall stool chair available. But right now, machine power pedal uses a mud bucket as a pedestal... We need something a little less janky. Jan says people look at her strange when the table is mentioned as sewing space, so this feature might make sense.
- The 5x10' was not chosen for this use, because people need to move around it and as the larger table, is in more demand.
- Lots of other hidden room features to share.
- Been some inquiries about classes. If possible, I'm hoping to keep these members only until stuff is squared away. We still have some work to finish, machines to figure out.
- Toni and Jen have offered to run some how-to sew sessions. See them if you have questions, see Jan to help with buildout efforts.

- Complete tool inventory is progressing and almost complete.
- Stanley Tools kindly replaced our coping saw (which had a missing part making it non-functional) with a brand new one. Customer service as it should be.
- All 5 pipe wrenches are now marked with pink paint linking them to the Tool Crib.
- Liquidation of the 3 small storage racks is continuing and ongoing.
- Plans for expanding the Milwaukee cordless power tool holder with 2 additional slots has kicked off. Using available scrap 3/4-inch plywood.
- Joined up with Wood Shop to consolidate the pocket hole hardware and fasteners. Tool Crib has purchased some pocket hole fasteners (675 pieces), and additional pocket hole drill, and a couple of 6-inch long square drive bits. Plan is to locate the pocket hole jig, fasteners, and associate hardware on a portion of the Tool Crib wall in the fastener section. A one-stop-shop.
- New labels are being affixed to most of the large storage bin containing hand tools, consumables and accessories.
- An additional HD metal louvered mounting plate for hanging small storage bins has been purchased and installed. The zone already has the storage bins, which will replace the 3 small storage racks currently sitting on the floor near the existing fastener storage area. The small storage bin wall will now have 104 bins, as opposed to only 72. An effort will be made to incorporate more metric fasteners in this new area of the Tool Crib.
- The 8 small storage bins that were mounted in the right hand alcove of the Tool Crib has been relocated to the left hand alcove adjacent to Milwaukee cordless tools. This should improve the workflow, grab the tool, then a battery and then the drive bit.
