New Zones!
Since we last met the board has approved the following list of new zones. These approvals are conditional on the approval of the city and other relevant regulatory bodies.
- Automotive - Brandon Biller, Frank la marca
- Chemistry - Brad Tarratt
- Clean Commons - James O’Dell
- Kitchen - Paul Lee
- Glassblowing - Jamie Burdeski
- Paint Booth - Bravin Neff, Mike Fink, Greg Good
- Sewing - Jan Henry
Congratulations to our new zone champions and thank you to everyone who submitted new zone ideas!
- Mike: And the proposed zones that aren't on this list
- Frank asks about foundry
- Jody: We had a few questions about that and no one had stepped up to be the champion. And Jody is willing to fold some basic forging work into the weld zone until it becomes a more full fledged zone.
Zone updates
CNC Zone
- Pallet changer was removed and sold for scrap. Too old for any resale value.
- New member Christian Sam doing some really cool machining for his business Archangel Steel
Craft Room
- Sewing: Hot steam iron located in classroom is ready for member training. It's a commercial iron so training is required. The sessions should be short. See Jan to schedule a time.
Electronics Lab
- Some time ago, Charlie pointed out that the cutters sucked.
- Several varieties of cutters are taking their sweet time in shipping, but most have arrived.
- Expect them in the zone in the next week or two.
Injection Molding
- Fielding questions from several members regarding projects for molding
- Going to put the big molder up "for parts" sale. If no bites then will be sold for scrap.
Welding Zone
- Lots of intro to TIG and MIG classes have been happening. They happen when you contact the ZC (Jody, welding@i3detroit.org) and ask for them.
Wood Shop
- A stern and polite reminder:
- Do not leave tools covered in sawdust
- Do not leave tools colored pink (Tool Crib) in the Wood Shop.
SIGs
U of M SSW Project
- The student from this project is graduating soon. He'll be here Friday if you haven't met him.
