Event Description

Excerpt from the Fundraising Livestream Press Kit & Media:

As part of i3Detroit’s fundraising efforts, it will be broadcasting a continuous 72-hour build-and-use event over the internet. Members of i3Detroit will start with scrap materials. Over 48+ hours, they’ll build a pedal-powered mini Makerspace (PedalSpace). They’ll then use the remaining time to bring making out to to the public.

The build will begin at 12:00am Friday morning, September 27 and complete on Sunday. During the build, the livestream will also highlight other member projects, i3’s equipment, live demonstrations, and maker-themed entertainment.

Wacky Hijinks

The following people all need to be asked whether they'd be willing to partipate....

  • Someone in a full Halloween outfit--the more oddball the better--walks directly behind the on-camera target, quietly, with a board showing current shoutouts.
  • "Release the Kittens"--Detroit Autonomous Vehicle Group have track in commons and tape kitten pictures to the cars
  • "Let Cry the Dog of War". Who doesn't love dogs?
  • "Cosplayer Takeover". Danny, Paul, and anyone else who's willing to storm the MC desk (preferably in full armor) do so.

The following goodies need fleshing out:

  • Board option "Sacrifice a Small Animal"
  • "Will It Burn?"

Special Acts

  • "Watch the Paint Dry" with Kevin
    • Just the painting. By itself. For two minutes (may need some schtick so viewers don't tune out--window in window with MC?)
    • Creatively reuse our stock of Bob Ross wigs and do a sendup.
    • Others? Need brainstorm.

We need to ask whether the following people are willing to participate:

  • Display of fire- and/or light: Josh (poi), Jamie (lightstick)
  • Four words: Evan. Electrodes. "For science!" Want to bet he can figure out something entertaining?
  • Ross + Karriane...in garb...doing whatever they damn well choose to, which will probably be both funny and sexy.
  • Kittens...somehow? Mike and Jamie have them, and it seems like a tragic waste not to leverage that fact.
  • Something involving the stuff from the castle: Magic mirror, knights, Jan's dresses?
  • Mel reads user comments/messages and answers them...as 'Melvira, Queen of the Mailbox'

Pre-Recorded Segments

  • Maybe do individual project features for projects like Frank's clocks which aren't in the stream?

Everyone listed needs to be asked if they're willing.

  • "The Makerspace Etiquette Hour": Vivian (the classy one) and Jamie (the NOT)
    • A sendup of "Goofus and Gallant" based on material from teh internets.
      • Needs research for makerspace etiquette as written by Emily Post...I've already got some of the props, including white gloves (one size fits all) and several silver-plated trays.
  • Nate calmly voicing over just about ANY sarcastic safety video.
    • Thomas is thinking Mr. Bill.
    • Or I've already got the script for "Running With Scissors" writing itself in my head...
  • PSAs

Rule 4: Sewing scissors are not normal scissors; the owners of misused sewing scissors have been known to seek revenge with normal scissors. [Cut to Jan holding up scissors with blistering look.]

Rule 5: Try to avoid getting liquids, especially sticky ones, in or on scissors. They don't cut as well when gummed up. [Cut to red-covered scissors. In the background, Jan says 'Try getting THAT stain out of your shirt.' and giggles maniacally.]
