Rules

Do not sew over pins. You must follow the thread path when removing thread. Never remove it backwards. Keep all parts with the machine and store together when done. If something breaks during your use, inform the coordinator.

Only use bobbins (part code: SA156, SFB: XA5539-151) that have been designed for this sewing machine. Using other bobbins may cause damage to the machine. ● We designed the bobbin that comes with this machine. If you use bobbins from other models, the machine will not work properly. Only use the bobbin that comes with this machine or bobbins of the same type (part code: SA156, SFB: XA5539-151).

Instructions

By default the straight stitch aligns to the left instead of center.

    • This was frustrating because I was mainly using a straight-stitch foot and had to be sure to move the needle to center position to ensure I didn't hit the presser foot with the needle.
  • The machine is incredibly light weight so it moves around on the table as the fabric feeds.
  • On thick seams the machine simply won't go through the layers.
    • It's nice that it errors out rather than breaking a needle or damaging the motor. Still, if you want to go through thick seams, you'll need another machine (maybe a metal vintage Kenmore or Singer?) to get the job done.
  • The throat space (the area between the needle bar and the body of the machine) isn't very large so don't expect to quilt anything larger than a table runner.
  • two things learned from videos and reviews more than the manual: how to thread the needle using the built in needle threader, and, most importantly, what brands of thread to use. Thankfully, the two most recommended thread brands - Gutermann and Coats & Clark - also happen to be the most common (and affordable) at our local Joann’s.
  • Carry the sewing machine by its handle when transporting the machine.
  • Put the accessories in the bag, and then store the bag inside the compartment. If the accessories are not in a bag, they may fall out, and be lost or damaged.

Maintenance Info

Sewing performance will suffer if dust collects in the bobbin case; therefore, it should be cleaned periodically.

In order to prevent damaging this machine, it must not be oiled by the user. This machine was manufactured with the necessary amount of oil applied to ensure correct operation, making periodic oiling unnecessary.

Do not store the machine in any of the locations described below, otherwise damage to the machine may result, for example, rust caused by condensation. • Exposed to extremely high temperatures • Exposed to extremely low temperatures • Exposed to extreme temperature changes • Exposed to high humidity or steam • Near a flame, heater or air conditioner • Outdoors or exposed to direct sunlight • Exposed to extremely dusty or oily environments • Do not taunt Super Happy Fun Ball

In order to extend the life of this machine, periodically turn it on and use it. Storing this machine for an extended period of time without using it may reduce its efficiency.

If the surface of the machine is dirty, lightly soak a cloth in neutral detergent, squeeze it out firmly, and then wipe the surface of the machine. After cleaning it once with a wet cloth, wipe it again with a dry cloth.
