Instructions
The scanner and turntable must be used in tandem.
- The scanner requires a VGA cable, a USB cable and a power adapter.
- The turntable requires a USB cable and a power adapter.
These cables are all located in a plastic shoebox located with the scanner, along with a USB drive containing the software and a HDMI->VGA adapter. This scanner uses the EinScan-S software.
The installer for the scanner is on a flash drive in the bin with the 3d scanner, along with a license file that is presumably read during the install.
Always run calibration with the calibration block. Place the white stand on the turntable Calibration takes three scans to complete, adjust the orientation of the black plate to match the instructions. Be careful not to move the calibration block when changing the orientation of the front plate. You can press firmly on the back of the block to ensure it doesn't move as you remove the front and rotate it.
After calibration you are ready to begin scanning. Place object on the turntable and select the detail level.
Click begin scan. Scan will take about 2-3 minutes depending on detail. A model will generate as the object is scanned.
Once scan is complete, a 3D model will be rendered on screen. If the model is acceptable, click save to save it as an .stl file.
Tips
- If the projector light is not on, press the power button on the back
- Ensure that the scanner shows up as a monitor and that it is set to extend the desktop ( It should not be mirroring the main monitor )
- The scanner works best in dim/dark environments. Due to projecting lines onto the object it doesn't want bright light. Turning off the lights in the media zone with both doors open worked well.
- Secure the object down with sticky tack or tape if it is liable to topple during the rotation of the turntable
- You will likely need to scan from two or more orientations to get good results.
