Well, I don’t know about you but I had a great time tonight! So many fascinating people, so many interesting conversations. So much support! Royal Oak is really the right place for a space like ours, with neighbors who “get” what we’re doing. Get a load of mayor Jim Ellison with a cutting torch, in what he said was his most unusual ribbon-cutting yet! There are more photos online already, and more will surely be added by the time you read this.
A lot of folks who came to the party didn’t sign (or see) the guestbook, so please leave a comment if that includes you! Also, for i3 newbies, some important info below the cut…
First, if you liked what you saw at the shindig and want to learn more, come back soon! Our regular meetings are on Tuesdays at 7pm, and everyone is welcome. We do a little business, and then the rest of the evening is hang-out-and-talk-and-work time, which is what we’re really here for, right?
Second, check the class schedule over on Eventbrite and RSVP for the ones you’re interested in! So far, all of our classes are free (donations happily accepted) and none have a materials cost, but seating is limited. Those RSVPs not only help us plan, but they make sure you’ll get in if something “sells out”. (Eventbrite refers to “buying tickets”, but for free events like ours, there’s no payment step. That’s just how it works, apparently.)
Third, get the word out! Follow our RSS feed, post about us on your favorite service, tell your friends by whatever means you find comfortable! If you have photos of the Grand Opening, please upload ’em to your favorite photosharing service (we’re mostly Flickr junkies), tag ’em “i3detroit”, and leave a comment on this post telling us where we can find ’em.
Thanks again, to everyone who helped make this possible, and everyone who came out to see us! Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go pass out.
