Action Item Review

  • Dave Scholl and Mark Miles - send a message to Coordinators to clarify how budgeted money for consumables should be spent.
    • Had a meeting with as many zone wardens as possible
  • Matt Arnold - Present a new floor plan next month to represent the changes made for the new CNC machine
  • Mark Miles - look into how to determine fair market value
  • Maddy Winans - Contact Nate Warnick to determine ownership of vacuum injection former
    • John Sugg owns most of the vacuum former, Brian W. owns the rest of it.
    • Injection formers are property of i3.
  • Nate Bezanson - Do something with the Home Depot Account
  • Scott Richardson - Call up MI state to check that i3 is registered as a charitable organization, and if not, get i3 registered
  • Scott Richardson - Clarify whether we would be auditable if there were any official Stratocube affiliation
  • Konrad Brown - Post documentation of the board vote on the Motion to Revoke Membership for NW.

Pallet Racks

  • Steve Brook and Brian W. came up with a plan for member storage with pallet racks
    • Plan has multiple levels with standing space on top
    • Plan includes clearing out wooden member storage to make more room for the wood shop
    • Panel saw might be displaced
    • Expected to increase member space overall
  • Units of 11 x 4 x 28ft
  • 2 units for about $350
  • Looking at PC graveyard for space, almost an ext
    • PC graveyard doesn't exist -Nate B.
    • Always been a wrong term
    • Stuff there is not free for claim like the graveyard
    • It's actually the electronics lab storage area
    • 11 feet tall is good because rafters are at 13
    • We should not set up habitable space on top of the storage because a loft what got i3 kicked out of the Royal Oak location
    • An official with authority could shut us down if we don't have a permit for the habitable structure
  • Board has approved $500 a couple months ago
    • This falls under the category of what should be deferred until the budget is better understood - Dave Scholl
    • Making a new proposal - Brian W.
    • 38 of these available, timeliness not much of an issue

  • Greg was not able to consult with Jamie B. yet, though she also had some ideas of how to improve the foyer. -Nate B.

Cart Home Floor Plan Changes

    • Proposal: To establishing a home for carts according to map layout handout at 12/03/13 meeting
    • All present (5/7) voted yes (5/5)

APS Grant Proposal

  • J. Trip
  • American Physical Society is offering $10k grants for outreach to the community related to science education
  • No concern for auditing i3 funds not related to the grant.
  • APS grant proposal includes teaching 6 classes twice over a 18 month period
    • Classes: Simple Circuits, Arduinos, Simple Machines, Complex Machines
    • Maximum of 15 people per class, adults 18+ only
    • Most purchases will go towards materials that participants can take home
    • Some grant purchases will be capitalized by i3 such as computer stations (Laptops? rasberry Pis)
    • Grant money is awarded in Feb. 2014 to a winning proposal
    • Classes start in May 2014
    • Grant ends in June 2015 with a conference at San Antonio, TX
