WIFI

The SSID is i3 there is no encryption, this is considered a feature.

You may occasionally see an SSID of 3302 or 1216, these are the FIRST Robot control WLANs. They are completely isolated networks and are probably not very interesting to you.

LAN Addresses

Internally, we are using the 10.13.xx.xx subnet.

FAQ

Q: Can we open a port in the firewall for my XYZ server?

A: Probably not. The upstream bandwidth at the space is rather poor. You are welcome to suggest it, but be prepared to meet with significant resistance from your fellow members. Alternately, many of the members have COLO space that they might be willing to share. Make a proposal on the mailing list and turn on the charm.

Q: Let's get some better bandwidth at the space!

A: That's not a question, but I take your point. So far, the the DSL service that we have has been sufficient. The website, CMS and wiki are all hosted commercially, so there hasn't been an urgent demand for greater bandwidth. Up till now, the membership has decided that our money is better spent on stuff like rent and heat. That's not etched in stone of course. You are welcome to stand up at the next meeting and make a proposal for why we need a bigger pipe.

Q: Can I have a static IP?

A: Yes. Just document it above.

Q: whérε dö ì ƒìñd ┼Hε wâΓεz åñd ┼HΣ p┌Ωn?

A: Kid, you are up past your bedtime.
